Chauffeured Breaks
Firstly we must make it clear that when we refer to Chauffeured Breaks we are not talking about men in black suits wearing a flat cap and driving a limousine, what we are referring to is a much more personal service, by providing you with your own courteous and friendly personal driver for the duration of your holiday.
In many instances this will be Tony, the proprietor of Brightlycott Cottage. He will not be wearing a flat cap, he may not be wearing a tie and he may even have the top button on his shirt open. But one thing is guaranteed he will be wearing a warm and welcoming smile and Tony will do all in his power to ensure that you are comfortable and that you have a pleasant journey irrespective of the distance to be travelled.
Arriving in North Devon.
Have you ever wanted to visit the many outstanding attractions of North Devon but been put off by the thought of having to drive from one location to another through country lanes and long winding roads? Maybe you have given up driving, unable to drive or have never even learnt to drive and feel that this type of holiday is not practical for you.
Whatever the reasons for not coming to North Devon in the past were, help is now at hand with an exclusive tailor-made holiday that will enable you visit the attractions of your choice, when you want to, with the assistance of your own personal driver.
When you arrive in Devon we will (with prior arrangement), collect you from any one of the following arrival points: either Exeter or Newquay Airport, or the train or coach stations at Exeter, Taunton, Tiverton or Barnstaple. Note that there is no extra charge for this service, and on your day of departure we will drive you back to the same point in time for you to either catch your plane, train or coach to complete your journey home.
If you live on the UK mainland you can for an additional fee take advantage of our door to door service and start your holiday by being collected at your front door, no looking at timetables, booking airline, train or coach tickets, no worry of making connecting times or breakdowns and more importantly no stress. At the end of your stay at Brightlycott Cottage we will then drop you back at your front door to complete a memorable holiday spent in North Devon. Brightlycott Midweeker
Our 'Brightlycott Midweeker' break starts with your arrival here at Brightlycott Cottage at 12 noon on Monday, if your journey has not been to strenuous you may choose to visit an attraction in North Devon during the afternoon, returning in time for your evening meal or you may choose to relax here at the Guesthouse, the choice is yours. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday you set the pace and your own itinerary (see below) - your driver will be on-hand to meet your requirements. On Friday after you have had your breakfast you will be leaving us, hopefully taking back with you treasured memories of your stay both here at Brightlycott Cottage and of North Devon.
Brightlycott Weekender
Our ‘Brightlycott Weekender’ break starts with your arrival here at Brightlycott Cottage at 12 noon on Friday, again, if your journey has not been to strenuous you may choose to visit an attraction in North Devon during the afternoon, returning in time for your evening meal or you may choose to relax here at the Guesthouse, the choice is yours. On Saturday your driver will be on-hand to transport you to the attractions of your choice and return you safely back in time for your evening meal. On Sunday after you have had a breakfast of your choice you will be leaving us. We hope that after having sampled what is on offer here in North Devon you will want to return on one of our 'Brightlycott Midweeker' breaks at a later time.
NOT a package holiday!
As you can see from above this truly is a holiday with a difference and can in no way be described as a package holiday, this is a holiday where YOU get to set your own itinerary and timetable, and each morning after enjoying a nourishing breakfast from your base at Brightlycott Cottage, your personal driver will then take you anywhere you want to go within a 50 mile radius of Brightlycott Cottage at no extra charge, its all included in your tariff! (See footnote for details about taking daytrips further afield.)
Please also note that although we say a 50-mile radius we are in a coastal area, and our drivers will refuse to go any further than the waters edge on account of the fact that they only drive normal vehicles and not amphibious ones! So for all you ‘twitchers’ who want to see the Lundy puffins, yes, we can get you to the quayside but you will have to take the boat over to Lundy Island (price not included), and yes, of course we will pick you up from the quayside on your return.
The attraction of Devon.
You may wish to be taken up onto Exmoor or Dartmoor to experience the freedom and tranquillity of the countryside and enjoy a picnic in glorious and peaceful surroundings, or how about a trip to a Waterside restaurant to sample a seafood platter, brought ashore on the morning catch and freshly cooked to order? And what trip to North Devon would be complete without sampling at least one of our world famous Devon Cream Teas? The choices are endless.
In addition to the diversity of its landscape, North Devon plays host to a wonderful selection of fine gardens, with surprisingly variable climates. From the splendour of RHS Garden Rosemoor to glorious old gardens now being reclaimed by determined owners. The range of style encompasses historic garden settings surrounding fine houses, as well as contemporary collectors' gardens, which often contain rare and unusual subjects. Whatever your interests in gardening, these examples in North Devon are guaranteed to both delight and inspire you.
From Stately Homes, Honey Farms, Market Towns, working Museums and picturesque thatched villages to thriving fishing villages and spectacular coastal, woodland walking in the countryside, whatever your interests are you are bound to find something to your liking amongst the many attractions on offer.

As you can see from above, daytrips to be driven to any of the attractions of Devon within a 50-mile radius of Brightlycott Cottage (See the map) are included in the basic price of your holiday!
