Dining here at Brightlycott

Dining at Brightlycott Cottage is informal and somewhat of a casual affair when it comes to mealtimes, particularly breakfast time. We feel that it is important to recognise that this is your holiday - a time when you should be able to relax and dispense with rigid timetables.

Breakfast at Brightlycott Cottage can be taken at any time between 7.00 am and 10.00 am. So for those of you that are planning on a long day out that necessitates an early start, to those that are pursuing a more leisurely day, you can start it with a breakfast of your choice, at a time that is more convenient to yourselves.

All of the vegetables served with our main meals at Brightlycott Cottage are locally grown and whenever it is possible we only purchase Organically Grown produce to ensure that we are serving our guests the very best and freshest ingredients that North Devon have to offer.



The Brightlycott Breakfast.

Many people say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and we tend to agree. That's why here at Brightlycott Cottage we offer a large assortment of foods to cater for all tastes.

Our breakfast tables are simply groaning with such delights as:

  • Apple or Orange Juice
  • A selection of home made healthy drinks
  • A choice of Cereals
  • Home made yoghurt flavoured with fresh fruit
  • Bowl of fresh fruit
  • Apricot and Ginger compote
  • Granary breads, local made butter, specialist preserves
  • Coffee or Tea or choose from a selection of herbal teas and infusions

And for those of you that are still peckish you have a choice of the following:

  • Full English breakfast to include: Bacon, Sausage, egg and fresh locally grown mushrooms and tomatoes.
  • Or, Scrambled eggs in Broches served with toast, local made butter and specialist preserves.
  • Or, Poached Eggs served with toast, local made butter and specialist preserves.



The Evening Meal.

The evening meal offers even more mouth-watering options too numerous to mention, freshly prepared and carefully presented home cooked cuisine; using locally farmed produce as available.

Vegetarian Specialities.

At Brightlycott Cottage we also pride ourselves on the fine selection of foods that are available for our vegetarian guests, offering no less than five different mouth-watering starters, six different main meals and six different desserts to choose from.

In fact, with so much on offer its worth considering staying for six nights just to give yourselves the opportunity to try them all!

Starters:

  • Cream of Courgette Soup
  • Broccoli Timbales
  • Roquefort Tartlets
  • Cheese Stuffed Pears
  • Selection of Dips:
    • Spiced Carrot
    • Butter Bean, Watercress and Herb
    • Saffron

Main Meals:

  • Broccoli and Chestnut Terrine
  • Celeriac and Blue Cheese Roulade
  • Spring Vegetable Boxes with Pernod Sauce
  • Spinach and Mushroom Souffle
  • Colourful Stuffed Peppers
  • Mushroom and Fennel Hot Pot

All of the above main meals are accompanied with a variety of potatoes, a selection of vegetables, salads or rice.

Desserts:

  • Rasberry Fromage Frais and Amaretti Scrunch
  • Date Fig and Orange Pudding
  • Selection of Sorbets/Ices
  • Peach and Rasberry Crumble
